Dr. Robert Parkins, university organist and a professor of the practice of music at Duke, performs this recital on the Flentrop organ with music by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel, Johann Ernst Eberlin, Domenico Scarlatti, and Jean-François Dandrieu. Admission is free.

Dr. Parkins's solo recordings have appeared on the Calcante, Gothic, Loft, Musical Heritage Society, and Naxos labels. This year's recital is the third segment of a trilogy related to organ music by Johann Sebastian Bach. "J. S. Bach and His Contemporaries" will feature works of Bach and contemporaneous composers from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and France.

Paid parking is available on a first come, first served basis in the Bryan Center Parking Lot at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot at the same address.

Masking in Duke Chapel is optional for those who are fully vaccinated. If you have not been vaccinated, Duke requires that you wear a mask in all Duke facilities. A beloved cornerstone of the Chapel Music calendar, the Organ Recital Series showcases internationally acclaimed organists performing enduring favorites, modern masterpieces, and original improvisations. The Chapel's Kathleen Upton Byrns McClendon Organ (Aeolian, 1932), Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Organ (Flentrop,1976), and Brombaugh Organ (1997)are all featured in the series.
