12:30 pm - 1:20 pm
James K.A. Smith

Over the past decade there has been an encouraging growth in the conversation between theology and the arts, often centered on the "imagination." Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts will host James K.A. Smith, author of Desiring the Kingdom and Imagining the Kingdom, to paint an intimate overview of his Cultural Liturgies book series, a project which carefully examines desire and questions imagination through their liturgical formation and possibilities. A public lecture, "Beyond 'Creativity': Expanding the Intersection of Theology and the Imagination" will follow in the evening at 6 PM in 0016 Westbrook Building, Divinity School. More information on the evening lecture can be found on the Duke Events calendar.
