Young Scholars Spring Semester Writing Workshop

Young Scholars Spring Semester Writing Workshop
Saturday, April 21, 2018
9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Second-year cohort members of the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity's Young Scholars Summer Research Institute will convene for a spring-semester writing workshop on Saturday, April 21st, 2018, from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM in the Erwin Mill Building, Bay A, Rm. A103 (2024 West Main St., Durham, NC, 27705). Students will build on the research they conducted as a part of their poster presentations during the 2017 Summer Research Institute. The session is the second of two semester workshops designed to further develop students' writing, research, and presentation skills around issues of social justice.

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided to students during the session, as well as notebooks and other materials. Students should plan to bring their laptops provided during the first year of the program to the workshop if possible.

The Young Scholars Summer Research Institute is a three-week program that provides middle and high-school students enrolled in Durham Public Schools (DPS) in Durham, North Carolina, with training to enhance their writing, research, and presentation skills. The program is sponsored by the Samuel Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University in partnership with Durham Public Schools (DPS).
