Women's Wind Ensemble

Women's Wind Ensemble
Sunday, October 13, 2019
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Program includes music by Antonio Vivaldi, Arthur Bliss, Astor Piazzolla, Robin McLaughlin, and John Williams. The Women's Wind Ensemble (WWE) was formed in 2017 with the intent to showcase various combinations of small and medium-sized wind chamber ensembles. WWE has created an opportunity for both new and long-time friends and colleagues to collaborate in the presentation of both classical standards as well as new works created for the ensemble. Members of the WWE are Duke Music faculty saxophonist Susan Fancher, together with Erika Boysen, flute, Ashley Barret, oboe, Kelly Burke, clarinet, Rebecca Libera, bassoon, and Abigail Pack, horn. Erika Boysen is Assistant Professor of Flute at UNCG, and is a member of the EastWind Quintet. Ashley Barret is Professor of Oboe at UNCG, Principal Oboist of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, and member of the EastWind Quintet. Kelly Burke is Principal Clarinetist of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. Rebecca Libera regularly performs with the Sirocco Winds and many area symphony orchestras. Susan Fancher teaches saxophone at Wake Forest University and Duke University, and is soprano saxophonist of the Greensboro-based Red Clay Saxophone Quartet. Abigail Pack is Professor of Horn at UNCG and currently performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival Orchestra, the Southwest Chamber Orchestra, and the Opera Roanoke Orchestra.
