The Cornerstone - Class of 2023
Sponsor(s): Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture
Held annually the day before the first day of classes, the Mary Lou hosts a lunch for members of the incoming class as another welcome to the campus and community as well as to provide the students with an opportunity to meet one another. The presidents of the black affinity groups are also invited to attend the luncheon and impart some advice as the first years gear up to begin their undergraduate careers. We share with the students the story of Sankofa and encourage them to take their place in the community and to feel empowered to ask for support and to provide support for each other.
