About the lecture
Dr. Finnegan will present updates from the project "Big Data for Reproductive Health," which is a collaboration with Megan Huchko and Amy Herring. This project, envisioned and developed by Dr. Finnegan, aims to develop a web-based application to better visualize, understand and utilize data on contraceptive discontinuation from countries' Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) data. During summer 2018, a Data+ team curated data for Kenya and Guatemala into an online, user-friendly tool. During the academic year, the team will apply advanced data analysis techniques using the DHS data and develop methods for collecting big data to provide dynamic information on contraceptive discontinuation to family planning researchers and advocates. Dr. Finnegan will also present on contraceptive discontinuation, the tool, its potential uses, and insights from key stakeholder engagements.

Lunch will be provided. This event is part of Think Global, a weekly lecture series at the Duke Global Health Institute. It is free and open to the public.
