Professor Jeffrey A. Hubbell joined The University of Chicago in 2014 after serving as the Merck-Serono Chair in Drug Delivery at Switzerland's École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where he also was founding director of the Institute of Bioengineering. He has served on the faculty of the University of Texas and California Institute of Technology. In addition to his membership in the National Academy of Engineering, Professor Hubbell is the former president of the Society for Biomaterials. Professor Hubbell also is an elected fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering, of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.
