Anime is Japanese animation. The word 'anime' is based on the original japanese pronunciation of the American word 'animation.' It's largely characterized by but certainly not limited to stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes.

While there are infinite ways to depict a human face using anime as inspiration, in this workshop participants will be focusing on a couple of the most common characteristics. We will cover the basics of portraiture, some pro tips, and some prominent characteristics seen in anime and manga (it's graphic novel counterpart) and draw our own anime character. All you need is a few pieces of any type of blank paper, and a pencil, hopefully one with an eraser.
