Photography, Nature, and Me

Did you ever wonder about nature, yourself, and the world around you? Photography, Nature, and Me is a hands-on course that will help young participants (ages 9-12) explore nature, photography, and literature to learn more about our world and our place in it. Each participant will be provided a camera to use for the course and be led through a photo exploration in a Durham, NC, city park. Over the three sessions in this course, participants will work to create their own photo art piece.
These three sessions will be held at Duke Park on September 25, Northgate Park on October 2, and Orchard Park October 9. Participants must sign up by the first session on September 25.
This art exploration program is part of a pilot arts program created in partnership with Literacy Through Photography at Duke's Center for Documentary Studies, Durham Parks and Recreation, Forum for Scholars and Publics, and Power Plant Gallery as part of a Community-Engaged Scholarship Collaborative grant.
