This seminar presents different approaches that have been taken in building Biomedical Engineering (BME) capacity in sub-Saharan Africa. Many case studies will be given from Uganda and especially the contribution from Makerere University. The current status of BME and its contribution to healthcare in Africa will be discussed, highlighting the challenges faced. We will consider the input from international partners to the capacity building efforts and what an ideal structure for collaboration would look like. The opportunities for the rapidly growing field will also be presented.

Lunch will be provided.
