Artist Talk: Dario Robleto

Artist Dario Robleto
Thursday, February 01, 2018
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Nasher Museum is proud to present the first performance of artist Dario Robleto's newest lecture, "A Dream, As Faithful As A Flame." This multi-media talk considers early recordings of the human brain alongside artistic interpretations and wonderings. Robleto's talk is the result of years of investigating historical brain research. It is the companion talk to his other performative lecture, "The Pulse Armed With A Pen," which shares his research of the heart.

Robleto is a transdisciplinary artist, storyteller and "citizen-scientist," whose research-driven practice results in intricately handcrafted objects that reflect his exploration of music, popular culture, science, war and American history. His work is part of the Nasher's collection.

"Dario Robleto's art and research is an example of how science and art can meaningfully intersect, and may allow viewers to reconsider what they know about both realms," said Jessica Ruhle, Director of Education and Public Programs, who created the Reflection's program at the Nasher. "As a university art museum, the Nasher eagerly explores and embraces the intersections between art and other disciplines."

Robleto's visit is supported by the Nasher's Reflections program and a Bass Connections collaboration between the museum and the Duke Division of Geriatrics. The talk is free and open to all.
