The 'not so silent' right hemisphere, after stroke

The right hemisphere has occupied a status of 'silent' when considering language production in comparison to the left hemisphere. Differences in language production after right hemisphere stroke do occur, but the specific characteristics of impairment are not well categorized due to the pragmatic nature. This presentation describes efforts taken to understand language production after right hemisphere brain damage (RHD) using the RHDBank, a national shared corpus of multimedia data files, and highlights research findings that identify one salient characteristic of language production impairment after RHD that can be easily quantified for diagnostic purposes.
