Special Lecture: Contending with Symptom Heterogeneity in Biomarker Discovery for Rapidly-Acting Antidepressant Interventions: Ongoing Work and Future Directions

Benjamin Wade is a postdoctoral researcher in the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on the development of machine learning and statistical models to identify multimodal neuroimaging biomarkers of clinical outcomes for rapidly-acting antidepressant treatments. Benjamin's ongoing work seeks to develop data-driven statistical models to contend with the symptomatic heterogeneity of depressive symptoms in an effort to improve the prediction of clinical outcomes following electroconvulsive therapy. His related work aims to characterize unique and overlapping biomarkers of antidepressant response following serial ketamine infusion, electroconvulsive therapy, and total sleep deprivation.
Benjamin is a recipient of several awards and fellowships, including the NIMH K99 Pathway to Independence Award, the NARSAD Young Investigator Grant, and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He has also been highlighted as a rising star by the Society of Biological Psychiatry and has received travel awards from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and Organization of Human Brain Mapping.
