Green Life: Plant Adaptations

Unlike animals, including humans, plants are constrained to live in a fixed location. They can't move about to obtain food or to avoid being eaten themselves. They also can't migrate or hide in response to changing or harsh environmental conditions, nor can they seek out mates in order to reproduce. The varied ways plants have evolved and adapted to overcome to these different challenges are truly amazing. Join Alec Motten, associate professor emeritus at the Duke University Department of Biology, in this online presentation for a lively look at how plants both respond to and shape their physical and biological environments.
