Joseph Fala
Organ Scholars Recitals

Duke Chapel Organ Scholar Joseph Fala presents an hour-long recital on the Aeolian organ. Titled "Out of the Depths," the concert features works by Jehan Alain, Samuel Barber, Maurice Duruflé, Herbert Howells, Felix Mendelssohn, Josef Rheinberger and others. While the pieces individually claim no explicit seasonal significance, the program as a whole invites the audience on an Advent journey, exploring the depths of human experience through darkness, longing, and hope.

Admission is free. Event parking is available for $5 in the Bryan Center Parking Garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot at the same address.

Fala is in his second year as an Organ Scholar at Duke Chapel. Originally from Honolulu, he came to Duke from Yale. He was named one of "20 under 30" by The Diapason Magazine and has been a featured performer at conventions of the Organ Historical Society.

Come early at 4:00 p.m. to participate in the Chapel's Choral Evensong worship service. Evensong at Duke Chapel is a small part of something bigger; it is part of the worship which is offered to God by people in every part of the world throughout the day and night.
