"Technical and professional meanderings in the medical device industry"

Medical device development in a large corporate environment presents a tremendous opportunity to impact the quality of life for people across the world. Collaborations with elite clinicians, researchers, and colleagues allow for the intersection of clinical practice, basic knowledge, and advanced technology. Execution within a mature development machine enables product realization within a landscape occupied by stakeholders with varied interests. Drawing on almost 15 years of R&D experience in the orthopaedic device industry, this seminar will cover a random walk in corporate research as viewed through both a technical and professional lens with the hypothesis that, in hindsight, all outcomes can be traced back to the Duke experience.
