Quatuor Ébène 'Beethoven Cycle'
In the notes for its first album (2006), Quatuor Ébène declared that it was "[impatient] to scale some of the peaks of the Beethoven quartets." Its time for that ascent has arrived: In celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday - and of its own twentieth anniversary - the Ébène is embarking on an ambitious project of performing Beethoven on every continent in 2019/20, along with recording a seven-disc box set of the complete quartets for Erato Warner.
With hearts full of passion for tradition, Quatuor Ébène has been captivating audiences with great success, converting listeners into avid fans of the chamber music genre. The performances are so convincing, the stage presence so charismatic, that one cannot escape the spellbinding magic of these masterpieces.
This weekend of concerts completes the Beethoven cycle begun by the Belcea Quartet in March.
