Hybrid Monsters: Combining Poetry, Visual Media, & Prose

Led by Professor Jessica Stark of the Duke English Department, this session will examine and engage with texts that cross conventional genres, blend media, and produce "monstrous" new forms of thinking through the combinations of poetry, visual media, and prose. In so doing, we will consider examples of literary, hybrid forms and how they radically re-encounter language, literature, and our daily lives. In this participatory practice, we will also play with creating our own monstrosities in more deeply thinking about creative destruction and its potential offspring.
