"In seeking out subjects, I am especially drawn to the intensity of children and the character of age. I consider both my photography and my writing to be continually evolving, as I try to use photography as a means of having a conversation with my subject, so that the subject is collaborating with me to create the photograph. By engaging with people, I try to open up the possibilities of deeper teaching and learning."

I think that pictures should be appealing from a distance and interesting up close. I seek to create photographs that have clean yet strong compositions."
