African Film Festival: Namballa Keita

Sponsor(s): Africa Initiative
Filmmaker Cherif Keita, William H. Laird Professor of French and the Liberal Arts, French and Francophone Studies at Carleton College, will be joining us for the screening and a post-film Q&A session.
Namballa Keita: A Soldier and His Village is the story of a young visionary, who was determined to recover from the trauma of WWII by forging a better future for his people through education. It invites us also to ponder the dystopian reality of our "independent" African nations gripped by a crisis of fanaticisms caused by the demise of the very school system that once carried the hope of Namballa Keita and his generation.
