From Ebola to COVID-19: Navigating Science-Policy Partnerships on the Front Lines

In this third Science Diplomacy Seminar focusing on COVID-19, we will discuss the multiple challenges facing governments to not only respond effectively to COVID-19, but how health agencies are changing partnership structures and addressing other health burdens. Our expert panel consisting of Dr. Pratima Raghunathan, former US CDC Country Director for the DRC and Rwanda and currently Senior Advisor, Center for Global Health at CDC, and Dr. Andres Lescano, Professor and Director for the Center for Emerging Diseases and Climate Change at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano-Heredia in Lima, Peru, and former Director General for Peru's Epidemiology and Disease Control Center, will provide opening remarks on challenges facing Latin America and Africa, and how science diplomacy principles are useful for navigating the current challenges in global health security.
Pratima Raghunathan, PhD, MPH currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Director for the Center for Global Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Andrés G. (Willy) Lescano, PhD, MHS is an Associate Professor and Head of Emerge, the Emerging Diseases and Climate Change Research Unit at Cayetano University in Peru. He also leads Clima, the Latin American Center of Excellence for Climate Change and Health.
