(as) Thick as Thieves
Jeainny Kim

Opening Reception:
Wednesday, November 29, 2017, 5pm-8pm
Artist talk begins at 6:30pm

On view: November 20-December 9, 2017

Jeainny Kim turns ordinary objects into surreal photographs using unique scanner techniques, that imbue her photographs with a three-dimensionality. Through her arrangements of everyday materials, Kim gives form to emotion and the physicality of the human body undergoing uncertainty, welcoming sexuality, experiencing passion, rejection and loss.

Kim was born in Seoul South Korea, and raised in Southern California. She is currently working towards a Bachelors of Arts in Visual Arts at Duke University, with a minor in Computer Science, and a Certificate in Documentary Studies from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. She makes portraits and scanner works, and designs virtual reality environments that explore the corporeality of emotional experience.
