The annual McGinnis Memorial Lecture is in it's 40th year and was established by the staff and students in 1979 to honor the memory of James William McGinnis, Jr. This year's speaker, Dr. Stephen Elledge, research interests center on the study of proteins that sense and respond to DNA damage and regulate the cell division cycle and cancer and uncovered what is now known as the DNA Damage Response.
