Concert & Discussion: Chords Behind the Bars - Songs from Sednaya Prison in Syria, 1980s-1990s

This event will showcase never-before-heard songs composed by Syrian political prisoners inside Sednaya Prison in the 1990s, known as the 'human slaughterhouse.' These songs, created as acts of resilience and defiance, will be performed live for the first time. The musicians will also present replicas of prison instruments used by former political prisoners who were imprisoned there in 1990s, offering a rare glimpse into their survival through music. The event is introduced by Prof. Eylaf Bader Eddin (Davidson) and followed by a Q & A with the musicians:
• Asaad Schlash
• Hassan Abd Alrahman
• Faraj Birkdar
• Haitham Alkatreb
