The Vagantes Conference on Medieval Studies is organized entirely by graduate students and to promote graduate student work. Undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members are more than welcome to attend panel sessions, which consist of traditional conference paper presentations given by graduate students from our local community, across the country, and as far flung as Italy and Germany.
In person registration (registration is free) starts at 8am on Thursday, April 3 at the Rubenstein Library room 153 on Duke's campus. Panel sessions will start at 9am each day. Additionally, the conference will include several professionalization opportunities, including a tour of the Nasher Art Gallery's medieval collections and a panel discussion with editors from the Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Studies in Philology, and Speculum. The conference's opening keynote will be given by Dr. Martin Eisner (Italian Studies, Duke University) on Thursday April 3 at 5pm with a reception to follow. The closing keynote will be given by Dr. Laura Ackerman Smoller (History, University of Rochester) on Saturday April 5 at 5pm.
