Please join us for an open discussion of this book with Mark Cruse, Associate Professor of French, Arizona State University, and National Humanities Center Fellow this year.
Mark's research turns attention towards Eurasia and the encounters between the Mongols and various French-speaking cultures on the European continent that began, for them, with Marco Polo - in the iconic scene above - and extends far beyond this in writing, material culture, and commerce.
This roundtable is part of Dialogue: An Early Modern Series, which aims to extend the range of research and teaching on premodern and early modern cultures on campus by cultivating exchange and debate with colleagues across Duke, other Triangle universities, and those working elsewhere.
Stay tuned for the final event of the year on April 29.
