Jennifer Doyle is the author of Shadow of My Shadow (2024), Campus Sex/Campus Security (2015), Hold It Against Me: Difficulty and Emotion in Contemporary Art (2013), and Sex Objects: Art and the Dialectics of Desire (2007). She is co-editor of Pop Out: Queer Warhol (1996). With Jeanne Vaccaro, she is co-curator of Scientia Sexualis, a contemporary art exhibition featuring the work of two dozen artists exploring the intersection of sex and science. This exhibition opens at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles in October. Together, she and Vaccaro edited the exhibition's catalogue, featuring essays by leading scholars in queer theory. She curated Tip of Her Tongue, a performance series for The Board in Los Angeles, and Nao Bustamante: Soldadera, for The Vincent Price Art Museum. She is President of the Board of Directors for the artspace Human Resources Los Angeles. She earned her PhD from the Graduate Program in Literature at Duke in 1999.
