Extraordinary Stories of Ordinary People
Anne Pauly (France) launched her literary celebrity after publishing her first book, Avant que j'oublie, in 2019. However, her work spans from novels and short stories to plays and television scripts. She is the recipient of numerous literary prizes, such as the Prix du Livre Inter and the Prix Robert Walser.
Pauly is also the artist-in-residence at Villa Albertine in Atlanta. Her previous publications highlight the vibrancy of the everyday and the voices of society's underdogs. During her stateside residency, Pauly will travel across southern Appalachia, celebrating its diversity and literary culture beyond its prescriptive stereotypes.
In addition to her public lecture, Pauly will lead multiple creative writing workshops during class visits to the Duke French Program.
