CEE Seminar- Applying circular economy framing to the built environment
Sponsor(s): Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)
Buildings are responsible for about 42% of the world's annual greenhouse gas emissions - these emissions are associated with operating them and producing, constructing, and disposing of building products and materials. Accordingly, the built environment plays a key role in achieving economy-wide greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Circular economy thinking can be applied to the built environment to help decarbonize this sector while also minimizing other negative effects. Join Heather Goetsch for a discussion about how this framing is applied to the built environment in her ongoing work at NREL.
