Marie McAuliffe (International Organization for Migration)

International migration is a complex phenomenon that touches on a multiplicity of economic, social and security aspects all around the world. In this seminar, Dr. McAuliffe will draw upon global analysis from the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) World Migration Report 2024 to critically examine the strategic "bigger picture" on migration and displacement dynamics linked to broader global transformations occurring around the world, especially as they related to technological, geopolitical and environmental change. Using the existing body of available data, research and analysis on migration and mobility, global trends and complex dynamics of migration will be described and discussed, so that we are able to "make better sense" of the key features of migration in increasingly uncertain times.

Dr. McAuliffe is the head of the Migration Research & Publications Division at IOM headquarters in Geneva and editor of IOM's flagship World Migration Report. She is an international migration specialist with over 25 years of experience in migration as a practitioner, program manager, senior government official and researcher.
