In association with Duke Chapel Music, the Chorworks summer program brings early-career musicians from across the country to study and perform early music at Duke Chapel. Led by the Chapel's conductor-in-residence, Dr. Philip Cave, distinguished faculty perform and offer in-depth study of music and its context. This year's theme is "Henry Purcell (1659-95): England's Orpheus." One of England's greatest composers, Henry Purcell composed music for church, court, and theater. His musical voice is unique: a blend of French joie-de-vivre, Italian drama, and England's long choral tradition.
