Night in Tunisia
Radio France dubbed Yacine Boulares "one of the most talented jazzmen of his generation." The masterful French-Tunisian composer and saxophonist's trademark sound is a percolating brew of mystic African traditional music, jazz and soul, influenced by his lifelong discovery of his identity with North and West African rhythms.
In his new creation, Boulares re-imagines Dizzy Gillespie's standard "A Night in Tunisia" -melding Jazz, Soul, and Funk with the native tongue and rhythms of Tunisia. Brought to life by a supergroup of Tunisian artists, including singer Nessrine Jabeur and rapper Mehdi WMD, Night in Tunisia is an energetic and celebratory exploration of the continuum of North African and African American music, from the shores of Carthage to the port of New Orleans - a zealous celebration of life, movement, and music.
