Context Matters: African-American Health, Research, and Fighting for Equality

How African Americans engage with health systems are informed by history AND their personal experiences. Keisha Bentley-Edwards, PhD has expertise in how racism, gender, and culture influence development throughout the lifespan, primarily for African Americans. In this seminar, she will discuss her research on African American health and families, and why research teams should understand historical and contemporary contexts of racism and gender issues as part of their pursuit for health equity.
