Policy Perspectives

** The Nicholas Institute and Energy Initiative have regretfully had to postpone this event due to unforeseen circumstances. We will announce a new date soon. **

The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and the Duke University Energy Initiative offer Policy Perspectives to share our team's experience directly engaging with decision makers. These informal discussions with our professionals give Duke students an opportunity to learn more about environmental and energy policy-making institutions-what they are, how they work, and how to engage them.

In this session, Allie Garrett, policy associate with the Nicholas Institute's Climate and Energy Program, will share insights on energy insecurity in the Southeast and how institutions can work together to effectively support impacted families. In 2021, the Nicholas Institute, in partnership with Appalachian Voices and the North Carolina Justice Center, launched the Southeast Energy Insecurity Stakeholder Initiative, which aimed to understand opportunities to reduce energy insecurity in the Southeast. Over the course of the year, the Initiative developed 25 recommendations to help households in the region meet their basic energy needs.

All current Duke students are invited to attend. Seating is limited, so please register only if you are committed to attending.

Boxed meals will be available for participants after the event.
