Save the Date for Policy Perspectives: Small-Scale Fisheries in the Anthropocene Ocean
The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and the Duke University Energy Initiative offer Policy Perspectives to share our team's experience directly engaging with decision makers. These informal discussions with our professionals give Duke students an opportunity to learn more about environmental and energy policy-making institutions-what they are, how they work, and how to engage them.
Save the date for this session with John Virdin, Ph.D., director of the Nicholas Institute's Ocean and Coastal Policy Program. Small-scale fisheries are the largest employer in the global ocean-and one of the oldest. However, they will face increasing pressures from humanity's accelerating use of the oceans in the coming years and decades. This talk focuses on what we know of the often-hidden role that these fisheries play in societies worldwide and the threats they face in an increasingly crowded ocean.
All current Duke students are invited to attend. More details on the session and how to register will be available soon.
