Book Arts Student Teach-In

sewn pamphlets, awls, bone folders
Thursday, April 07, 2022
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Noelle Garrick, Athena Yao, and Sophie Zhu, with Dr. Mandy Wetsel

In today's wired world, there is a resurgence of interest in material objects and the processes involved in crafting them, including an explosion of creativity in paper arts and book structures. You are invited to learn about the book arts from our talented Duke students. Noelle Garrick, Athena Yao, and Sophie Zhu will present their artists' books and answer questions about them. Then they will share skills at stations; you can learn to make an origami dumpling, carve a stamp, or sew a pamphlet binding. Try your hand at one project, or try them all! Everyone is welcome; all supplies provided. (Please register to help us prepare supplies: https://bookartsstudentteach-in.eventbrite.com) Moderated by Dr. Mandy Wetsel.
