Duke Center for Health Informatics: What is Data Analytics? Types, Uses, and Examples
Seminar Abstract:
Data analytics is an extensive term encompassing diverse types and data analysis methods widely used in all industries, including higher education. This session presents and defines the common types of data analytics and related topics, along with examples of how the analytics team at the Brody School of Medicine has used it to continuously improve the undergraduate medical education program and track student academic performance.
Presenter Bio:
Mrs. Infante Linares has over 12 years of experience in data management, reporting, and analysis in various industries, including higher education. In her current role, she directs the development of an educational data warehouse at the Brody School of Medicine, supports the data analytics program, and provides tools for data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvement. She is a member of the Association of Institutional Research, AAMC Group on Information Resources, and EDUCAUSE.
