Calichi Trio Concert
The Calichi Trio unites three powerhouse musicians whose artistry spans continents and careers at the highest levels of classical performance.
Hsiao-mei Ku, a celebrated Naxos recording artist and Professor of Music at Duke University, began her musical journey in Beijing's prestigious Central Conservatory at just ten years old. By eleven, she was performing on national television. After relocating to the United States, she earned her Master of Music with distinction and the coveted Performer's Certificate from Indiana University, quickly establishing herself as a violinist of exceptional depth and elegance.
Caroline Stinson, a dynamic Canadian-born cellist, is a member of the renowned Ciompi Quartet and Associate Professor of the Practice at Duke University. She performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, captivating audiences in major venues such as Carnegie's Zankel Hall, Boston's Gardner Museum, Washington D.C.'s Smithsonian Institution, and the Lucerne Festival. Principal Cellist of Connecticut's Stamford Symphony under Michael Stern, Stinson's expressive playing bridges continents and musical eras with effortless grace.
Ieva Jokubaviciute, an acclaimed Lithuanian pianist, brings what The New York Times hails as "commanding technique, refined temperament, and persuasive insight." A Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship winner, her debut album garnered international praise and led to solo recitals in cultural hubs from New York and Chicago to Vilnius and Toulouse. With a reputation for "razor-sharp intelligence and wit" (Washington Post), Jokubaviciute anchors the trio with both poetic nuance and electrifying power.
Together, the Calichi Trio delivers performances that are at once virtuosic and deeply human-melding the voices of violin, cello, and piano into a vibrant, unified expression that transcends borders and speaks directly to the soul.
