Vera Rubin Observatory First Look Watch Party

Join us on Monday, June 23, to witness a major moment in astronomy: the unveiling of the very first images from the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. This global livestream marks the start of a new era in cosmology - and Duke has had a hand in making it happen.
Professors Chris Walter and Arun Kannawadi, along with their students and postdocs in the Physics Department, have played a key role in the observatory's development. To celebrate, the Duke Cosmology Group is hosting a watch party on the Devil's Deck at Wallace Wade Stadium, where the images will be projected on the stadium's massive scoreboard.
Watch parties like this are taking place across the U.S., Chile, and beyond - be part of the celebration at Duke!
The celebration will take place between 9 AM and 1 PM, with the main unveiling taking place at 11AM. Attendees are welcome to come and go before and after that.
For organization purposes, we ask that all attendees RSVP prior to the event: https://redcap.duke.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=TFXWP4MDLPYEKFAT
