Join us for "Those We Thought We Knew: Reimagined," an exhibition by artist and cultural pollinator Marie T. Cochran, a leading voice in the Affrilachian movement. Rooted in the layered histories and landscapes of Appalachia, Cochran reimagines the narrative of David Joy's novel "Those We Thought We Knew: Reimagined" -a work dedicated to her - through mixed-media works paired with a video projection of her film "Testify, Beyond Place."

This immersive exhibition in the Juanita Kreps Gallery at CDS explores themes of place, memory, and African American identity in Appalachia, inviting viewers to reconsider notions of belonging and community. Central to the project is a participatory installation process, transforming the gallery into a collaborative space where the public is invited to contribute to the evolving work.

Public Participation Hours:
Tuesday, September 9 | 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 10 | 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Opening Reception & Luncheon:
Celebrate the debut of the exhibition and its collaborative spirit on Thursday, September 11, with a reception and luncheon from 12:00-1:00 p.m. All are welcome.
