Participants will confirm the relationship they hold with plants that brings life to mind, body, and soul. This workshop will provide the opportunity to explore the benefits of garden herbs commonly used in the kitchen and reflect on the intuitive wisdom gained from interacting with them. This program is designed specifically for BIPOC adults (18+ years old). Participants will receive a garden kit that includes herbs, soil, one planter, seeds, journal and herbal guide to take home.
Why is this program for a specific audience?
When we offer programming to distinct affinity groups, it's not meant to segregate (an action that holds harmful paradigms and actions). Instead, we offer space for specific communities to heal and affirm their distinct lived experiences. We aim to celebrate diverse cultural identities for historically marginalized communities by providing opportunities for healing, community, encouragement and support.
Fee: $38; 20% discount for Duke Gardens members with discount code. Parking fees apply.
Location: meet at the front desk of the Doris Duke Center for directions to the class location.
Accessibility: This will be a small group program that takes place seated outdoors in a location that requires traveling on paved and unpaved paths with some moderate inclines.
