SOM Academic New Faculty Orientation: Being a PI, mentorship
Starting a new faculty appointment is an exciting and challenging opportunity, and whether you joined Duke this month or last year, the School of Medicine Office for Faculty wants to make sure you have the tools and support to hit the ground running and to navigate your career here.
This is part of the School of Medicine Academic New Faculty Orientation seminar series. In this session, participants will explore the opportunities and challenges of moving from a trainee to a PI role, discuss how to be strategic in creating a lab culture, learn about the qualities of a good mentor, and review opportunities for continued mentorship, and mentor training. This seminar will be most relevant for faculty in the basic sciences.
