Mathematical Biology Seminar

The immune system plays a key role in nearly all aspects of medicine and public health, and is a major focus of research in the School of Medicine. Important areas where medicine and immunology intersect include infectious disease, vaccine development, transplantation, trauma, and cancer treatment. With the development of ever more sophisticated ways to measure the immune system, quantitative modeling and analysis plays an increasingly important role in modern immunology. The Duke Center for Human Systems Immunology was recently formed to build a community dedicated to studying the boundary of quantitative and experimental immunology. In this talk, I will describe the Center, nascent projects in the mathematical modeling of immunology within the Center, and opportunities for collaboration and cross-training with the mathematical biology community.
