First-Year Student Online Auditions - "Twelfth Night" (Fall) and "Eurydice" (Spring)
In addition to student-run productions as well as work by Theater Studies faculty and visiting artists, the Department of Theater Studies stages two Mainstage productions each year. Students cast may enroll in THEATRST 350-1 Mainstage: Acting for credit. Students learn about theater design and technology by working backstage and enrolling in THEATRST 226S World Building for the Theater.
In Fall 2023, Jonathan Cullen will be in residency in Theater Studies as he directs Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night".
In Spring 2024, Duke's own Jules Odendahl-James will direct Sarah Ruhl's "Eurydice," written in 2003 and already a contemporary classic.
Jonathan and Jules will be holding online auditions for incoming first-year students on July 5 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. EST and July 6 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. EST. (All undergraduates are welcome to try out for "Eurydice" during in-person auditions on October 11 and 12.)
