SPEAKER:

Dr. Nir Barzilai is the director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research and the NIH Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging. He is theIngeborg and Ira Leon Rennert Chair of Aging Research, and professor in the Departments of Medicine and Genetics as well as Endorcinology and Metabolism.

Dr. Barzilai's studies of families of centenarians have provided ground breaking genetic/biological insights into human longevity. He is currently leading an international effort to approve drugs that can target aging including the Targeting Aging with Metformin (TAME), a study designed to prove the concept that multi-morbidities of aging can be delayed by metformin. The study serves as a template for future efforts to delay aging and its diseases in humans.

He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed papers, received numerous prestigious awards, and spoken at venues such as TEDx, The Vatican, Milken Institute, and World Economic Forum. He serves on several foundation boards and co-founded CohBar and Lifebiosciences. He is the author of a popular book Age Later and his work is featured in the documentary Age of Aging.
