Workshop: Camera Movement

Students are shown the surprisingly rich feature set of a modern tripod, and we quickly move through locked-off shots, fluid head moves, full and portable dolly moves, jib shots, gimbals, ad hoc rigs, and hand-held operating. Qualities of movement such as stability, feathering, and continuous framing are demonstrated. We cover marking and other techniques which enable continuous focus for complex shots. We look at the complications introduced in lighting, production design, and sound when camera movement is introduced.
