Workshop, part 1: Clarifying Your Role and Purpose as a Mentor
Sponsor(s): Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement
Most of us in academia have never been intentionally trained to mentor. We tend to mentor as we've been mentored, and all of us bring a set of prior experiences and assumptions into the mentoring space. This workshop will provide space for in-depth reflection and discussion of your current mentoring practices. You'll get some scaffolding and tools to help clarify your role, scope of activities, and boundaries as a mentor, and to better align your mentoring effort with the needs of a diverse set of young scholars and junior colleagues. Limit 25 attendees.
