Botany Spotlight: Mushrooms
Take a close look at fungal diversity and the role it plays in forest ecology in this three-session in-person class with Rytas Vilgalys, professor of biology at Duke University. This workshop will cover basic methods used for mushroom collection and field identification, along with discussion of class readings about fungal ecology. The class will meet on two Tuesdays in Duke Gardens' classroom and one Saturday morning at Duke Forest to scout and collect specimens.
Reading assignments, field guide and book recommendations will be sent to participants in advance of class meetings. For Tuesday sessions, please meet in person at Duke Gardens' Doris Duke Center. Driving directions will be provided for the Saturday session.
