Senior Leadership Insights

Join The Graduate School for a series of conversations with alumni reflecting on the role that their Duke education played in their careers. Dr. Srinivasan "Chini" Krishnan is the founder and CEO of Vimo, Inc., which created GetInsured.com, an online shopping portal for healthcare products and services. GetInsured has led the charge to bring the SaaS (Software as a Service) approach to public-sector healthcare. Even before the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Chini understood the need for a SaaS-based health insurance exchange solution, and his foresight enabled GetInsured to secure a principal role in developing the seminal exchanges for California, New Mexico, Idaho, and Mississippi. Today, the company is the leading provider of health insurance enrollment technology for the state governments of California, Idaho, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington. GetInsured technology has enabled more than 15 million enrollments to date.

Prior to GetInsured, Chini founded and served as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer at Valicert Inc., a leader in public-key infrastructure (PKI) validation. Valicert went public in 2000 and ultimately merged with Tumbleweed Communications (NASDAQ: TMWD) in 2003. Prior to founding Valicert, Chini was Product Marketing Manager at Enterprise Integration Technologies (EIT), where he was integrally involved in releasing the world's first secure browser. Dr. Krishnan holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University.

Dr. Krishnan will be joined in conversation by Dr. Jeffrey Chase, Professor of Computer Science and Director of Graduate Studies for CS graduate programs.

The Senior Leadership Insights series is sponsored by The Graduate School and this event is offered in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science. The conversation is open to Duke faculty, graduate students, postdocs, alumni, and staff. Questions?
