Nicolas Bucher

Nicolas Bucher started his musical studies in the Conservatoire of Lille with Jean Boyer, then with Aude Heurtematte. In 1994, he went to Brussels to study with Jean Ferrard and Beoît Mernier. Finally, he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon (CNSMD) with Jean Boyer. In 2000, he was the laureate (2nd prize) of the International Organ Competition of Tokyo-Musashino. After 4 years of teaching the organ, he was appointed as director of the Conservatoire d'Arras from 2004 to 2007, before becoming Head of musical studies of the CNSMD of Lyon. In Vézelay, he created the "Cité de la Voix", a place of artistic residences and a festival. Since March 2018, he has been the general manager of the "Centre de musique baroque de Versailles".Nicolas Bucher is still an organist and a conductor. He records principally for the label "Hortus". He has recorded the entire works of Nicolas de Grigny. He has been serving as an organist in Lens, Cathedrale of Lyon, Saint-Séverin in Paris and in the Basilica of Vézelay. He is currently organist at Saint-Gervais in Paris where he plays the "Organs of the Couperin family".
